Kobe Bryant scored 21 points, matched a season high with 14 assists and added nine rebounds as host Los Angeles knocked off NBA-best Oklahoma City to earn its second straight win.
Steve Nash had 17 points, Pau Gasol scored 16 and Metta World Peace chipped in 15 points and 10 boards for the Lakers, who improved to 4-10 in January. Bryant had more assists than field-goal attempts (12) for the second straight game.
Kevin Durant scored a game-high 35 points and Russell Westbrook recorded 17 points and 13 assists as the Thunder finished up their six-game road trip with a 3-3 mark.
Durant drained a 3-pointer from the top of the key to give Oklahoma City its final lead of the contest at 87-86 with 6:37 left. World Peace hit a short jumper on the other end to put Los Angeles back on top, and the Thunder missed their next three field-goal attempts as the Lakers stretched it out.
Bryant and Nash took over down the stretch and combined for 13 points and four assists in the final 5:37. Bryant’s drive from the right baseline and shovel pass to Gasol in the lane for a layup gave the Lakers a six-point edge with 1:08 left, and Bryant buried a jumper on the next possession to put it away.
After holding the Utah Jazz to 84 points in a win on Friday, Los Angeles limited Durant and Westbrook to a combined 16-for-48 shooting. … The Thunder completed a stretch of 11 of 13 games on the road with the loss. … Westbrook is shooting 28.6 percent over his last three games.
